General Summary:

Perform competitive planning and cost estimations for all service order projects. This includes developing control estimates based on customer scopes, obtaining and analyzing subcontractor bids, and monitoring projects through cost control.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepares cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals for multiple projects.
  • Prepares material and other cost summaries for quotes from vendors.
  • Provide projected project completion timeframe. Attend meetings as required. Provide and maintain spreadsheets, graphs, and other documentation.
  • Defines and manages the scopes of work for all trades.
  • Analyze existing site or systems conditions and develop solutions
  • Proficient in the use of project estimation software- RS Means preferred for Facilities & Construction.
  • Prepares project reports and data as required.
  • Obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifies qualified sub-contractors and negotiates price.
  • May be expected to work hours in excess of normally scheduled hours.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Working experience in constructing from basic site plans, architectural plans, MEP plans, and schematics.
  • Working knowledge of engineered drawings and specifications, with a depth of understanding of the Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Structural, and Fire Protection.
  • Working knowledge of commercial construction estimating software and databases, with pro-grams including but not limited to R.S. Means or equivalent software.
  • Working knowledge of all phases of commercial construction estimating, including budgetary and detailed estimates, change orders, and job costing analysis.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite
  • Must have excellent writing and verbal skills.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience and training to five (5) years in technical or construction fields, providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to review Government Scopes of Work and cost estimates, sometimes based on limited information.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to push 50 pounds (maintenance equipment); ability to lift minimum of 50 pounds (supplies and equipment).
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands as necessary.
  • May be required to wear and maintain appropriated personal protective equipment (PPE) Specific requirements will be determined and communicated by the site Safety Manager
  • Ability to hear and see to position and safety requirement levels. May be exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals

Special Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Must be able to successfully pass as required a federal, state, or local government's background investigation

  • Valid state driver's license
