Primary Purpose:
To provide assistance to the Carpentry Supervisor in carrying out various task pertaining to maintenance of buildings and campuses.
Qualifications:
Minium Education/Certification :
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Minium Experience: 3 years previous experience in trade
Special Knowledge and Skills:
Valid Texas Drivers license
Ability to work independently
Some experience with other crafts related to construction/maintenance of buildings.
Ability to skillfully and safely operate power tools and hand tools normally used in building construction/maintenance.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Prepare and paint surfaces.
2. Repair casework.
3. Repair, construct, and modify walls, ceilings and other building components.
4. Repair of concrete and other masonry surfaces
5. install or replace glass windows and doors.
6. Repair, add, or replace all types of ceilings.
7. Repair and maintain playground equipment, fences, and gates.
8. Demonstrate willingness and a positive attitude toward performing other duties as assigned.
Equipment Used:
Power saws, drills, nail guns, measuring devices, paint sprayer, sanders, welders, acetylene oxygen torch, tractors. loaders, trailers, aerial lift and other tools of the trade.
Working Conditions:
Physical Demands:
Strenuous walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting - over 45 pounds. Responsibilities of the position can cause and require irregular work hours.
Environment:
Work outside and inside, exposure to hot and cold temperature, exposure to dust, toxic chemicals and materials. slippery or uneven walking surfaces, working on elevated platform ladders, ets,; working alone.
