Overview:

The 3rd Shift Production Supervisor position will assist in plant operations contributing towards supervising and coordinating all activities in multiple manufacturing cells to meet production control schedules and maintaining continuous flow of production.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Will be responsible for planning work and production for the work cell, directing of shifts, using thorough, up-to-date knowledge of the processes and the equipment for which he/she is responsible.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and ensures safety awareness and associate involvement. Motivates associates to recognize and bring forward safety concerns and improvements.
  • Ensures all machines are operable and adequate raw materials are in inventory. Checks schedules for each machine and orders needed materials. Coordinates with Maintenance when work is required.
  • Supervises machine operators, packing, material handlers, etc., instructing and training them in proper methods of running machines.
  • Observes associates for effectiveness, efficiency, and performance safety practices, following instructions and procedures to reduce scrap, usage, and waste. Evaluates process and work performance on each employee.
  • Trains, coaches, and motivates personnel in the understanding and adoption of new principles and techniques. Provides direction for each associate directly supervised, maintaining clearly stated work assignments, and providing assistance when needed.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • BS Degree in related field
  • 3-5 years experience in manufacturing management, preferably in a team-based continuous manufacturing environment.
  • Wire and cable experience preferred.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience desired. Proficient utilization of Lean tools such as 6S, Kanbans, etc.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft programs like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

This job operates in a manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Most time will be spent standing and walking on the shop floor working with associates and support teams.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to grasp small items, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
