Commissioning Mechanical Technician

Position Summary:

The Commissioning Mechanical Technician is responsible for performing the implementation of pre-commissioning and commissioning for all mechanical equipment and components as well as first fills, preservation, and leak testing. The incumbent will ensure all work is done in accordance with relevant local, state, federal and site-specific rules and regulations while maintaining safety standards.

Schedule:

  • North Slope, Alaska - 7 days per week, 11.5 hours per day
  • 3 weeks on, 3 weeks off

Essential Job Functions:

  • Performs all phases of validating, testing, inspection and mechanical systems and components
  • Validates and executes the commissioning folders and completes all required pre-commissioning and commissioning checks and tests
  • Ensure project remains under budget and proper quality equipment and tools are utilized
  • Ensure all test equipment is NIST Traceable and has a current calibration date
  • Utilize industry standards for testing such as ASTM, and Client Specifications or another recognized and approved standard
  • Executes mechanical commissioning procedures and updates commissioning folders by completing blue lines, red lines and B check sheets
  • Trains and mentors new team members
  • Conducts jobs in accordance with relevant codes and site-specific procedures while following applicable safety procedures, specifically Energy Isolation Procedures and Lockout/Tagout Procedures.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience as a Mechanical Commissioning Technician or a combination of technical school and experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience in supporting large-scale commissioning projects
  • 2 years of commissioning support for large-scale projects
  • Current and valid Driver License
  • North Slope Training Certification "NSTC" required

  • Take and pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
  • Take and pass a Fit-for Duty Examination.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge and experience use of power tools, testing equipment, measuring devices, power construction equipment.
  • Knowledge of proper mechanical equipment conducive to conditions and assignments including adherence to Hazardous Materials and Safety Regulations with regards to First Fills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of process systems, equipment, operational and mechanical systems including installation, test, maintenance and repair.
  • Experience in leak testing
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards and regulations
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability and willingness, to receive and follow direction.
  • Ability to clearly communicate (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to work safely and recognize potential hazards.
  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle (within the requirements of our insurance carrier).
  • Ability to read and interpret P&ID's, PFD's, ISO's
  • Ability to diagnose system malfunctions, locate cause of breakdown and correct the problem or recommend solution
  • An outright commitment to an honest, safe, quality work product is a must
