Position Title: Mechanic
Reports To: General Manager
Overview of Position :
The Mechanic is responsible for providing maintenance for all heavy equipment.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Perform thorough and accurate monthly equipment inspections
- Troubleshoot various heavy equipment product lines
- Read schematics – both electrical and hydraulic
- Repairs, modifies, designs, lays out, and fabricates a variety of metal work including construction vehicles and equipment
- Diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects in gas- and diesel-powered engines, including graders, loaders, rollers, dozers, sweepers, tractors, and other heavy equipment
- Works on mobile equipment including CAT trucks, front end loaders, skid steerers, service trucks, and cranes
- Changes lights, wiper blades, and converters on equipment
- Assists in dismantling worn machinery and equipment; installs new machinery and equipment
- Operates crane

Work Environment :
This job operates in a mechanic shop. This role requires the completion of tasks in a heavy industrial setting requiring a sense of high-level safety reverence using the required PPE for the environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to bend, stoop, crawl, and perform tasks in adverse weather conditions. This job requires the employee to lift, push, and pull at least 40 pounds frequently.
Required Education and Experience :
- High school diploma or GED
- 4-6 years’ experience as a mechanic repairs and maintaining heavy construction equipment
- Welding and fabrication experience
Preferred Education and Experience :
- Mechanic certification
- Experience with diagnostic related software
