TITLE: AVID SITE COORDINATOR INTERNAL PAYSON HIGH SCHOOL (PHS) APPLICANTS ONLY
DEPARTMENT: Office of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate for grade level and subject.
- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) from accredited college or university.
- Must possess a valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card.
JOB GOAL:
The AVID Site Coordinator will support AVID implementation and ongoing success at the site level in the areas of Instruction, Systems, Leadership, and Culture.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following tasks are essential for this position. They are broken down by AVID’s four schoolwide domains (Instruction, Systems, Leadership, and Culture). This list is not inclusive of all responsibilities. Individuals may not perform all of these tasks, or may perform similar related tasks not listed.
INSTRUCTION Implement Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading ( WICOR®) as a means for bolstering rigor on a campus, with a focus on supporting high-quality instruction across all learning environments.
- Understand the alignment between WICOR and other instructional strategies and programs on campus.
- Understand the connection between WICOR and rigor and model the use of WICOR strategies to increase the rigor of classroom instruction.
- Engage in AVID professional learning opportunities to stay on the leading edge of instructional practices and advancements with the AVID College and Career Readiness System.
- Participate as an active member of the campus’ instructional leadership team, planning support for the effective use of AVID strategies across the campus.
- Assist in the planning of AVID professional learning by selecting appropriate AVID Professional Learning Modules to support site goals.
SYSTEMS Understand systems thinking and apply that knowledge to AVID implementation, refinement, and sustainability through measured impact metrics.
- Execute defined approaches to continuous improvement that incorporate AVID resources to ensure data-informed decision-making and improved results.
- Manage the site’s Coaching and Certification Instrument (CCI) coaching, planning, and evidence gathering through communication and Site Team meetings.
- Monitor the quality implementation of the AVID Elective (where applicable), including ongoing improvement of the AVID Tutorial Process.
- Assist in aligning school wide initiatives/goals with AVID schoolwide support.
- Create surveys collaboratively with site staff to gather input on systems to support improved student achievement.
- Utilize the Site Team Months at a Glance tool to systemize quality implementation and sustainability of AVID.
LEADERSHIP Understand and actively support the development of a mission and vision-driven approach to leadership, motivated by the “why” and rooted in the AVID College and Career Readiness Framework.
- Participate as a member of the instructional leadership team to align campus goals and Schoolwide AVID under the direction of the school principal and AVID District Director.
- Direct the AVID Site Team using the Site Team Months at a Glance tool , CCI, Data Collection, and other relevant AVID resources.
- Direct best practices of WICOR and alignment of school wide student support through AVID strategies.
- Lead the connection between theories of AVID and the actions on the campus.
- Harness the power of the AVID Site Team and share the responsibility for accomplishing school wide goals.
CULTURE Create and nurture an intentional culture on campus that aligns with the AVID College and Career Readiness Framework and ensures students receive the guidance, help and learning that they need.
- Believe that all students can graduate, being College and Career Ready (CCR) and model that belief consistently.
- Model a high level of commitment by creating shared beliefs and values among staff.
- Work with leadership to evaluate campus culture and identify ways to improve the college and career readiness environment for all students.
- Support and model the four key elements of the AVID College and Career Readiness Framework: Insist on Rigor, Break Down Barriers, Align the Work, and Advocate for Students.
- Provide opportunities and awareness to address the college/career-readiness needs of students, family, and the community.

REPORTS TO: The site Principal and Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the site Principal with input from the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment in accordance with the provisions of Governing Board policy in evaluation of classified personnel.
TERMS OF
EMPLOYMENT: 12 Months
SALARY: One time per year stipend in the amount of Five Thousand Seven Hundred Dollars ($5,700.00). The payment will be split into two parts and paid at the conclusion of each semester.
