DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY: This position is being filled using Direct-Hire Authority (5 CFR 337.201) for this occupion. Videos Duties Major Duties and Responsibilities include; but are not limited to the following: Electrical System Maintenance and Repair: The incumbent works as a journeyman level electrician to maintain, repair, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems from 120 volt to 480 volt 3 phase to include, but not limited to building wiring, electrical panels, breakers, fuses, building lighting systems, campus lighting systems, emergency power systems, electric pumps/ motors, elevors, generors, alarm/ control systems, electric doors, transfer switches, transformers and any other electrical work normally performed by a Journeyman level Electrician. The work involves installing, modifying, repairing, troubleshooting, loading, and testing new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, controls and equipment. Included are secondary distribution lines, panels, switch gear, power and control circuits, da cabling, electrical warning, detection, emergency generors, electrical transfer switches, and a medium voltage primary distribution system. Electrical Construction and Renovions: The incumbent runs conduit, pulls wires, installs electrical signs/ lighting, installs outlets and switches, and connects electrical power to new equipment. He/she plans, lays out, the needed placement, arrangement, and routing of systems, circuits, controls, and equipment. He/she works from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and electrical maintenance and repair manuals determines size, type, gauge of wiring, conduit, fittings, relays, control and distribution panels needed for the safe operion of systems, circuits, and equipment. Testing and Documention: The incumbent is responsible for inspection, testing, and maintaining accure records of various electrical systems on the medical center campus to include, but not limited to campus wide generor system, individual generors, lighting, automic transfer switches, emergency exit lighting, fuel pump systems, emergency power systems, load bank testing, circuits, breakers, panels, controls, elevors, and equipment. Performs duties such as, monitoring service contracts, inspections and to ensure documention on same as required by The Joint Commission (TJC) and ANSI. The incumbent must be thoroughly versed in the Nional and Local Electrical codes and has knowledge of all safety regulions pertaining to the described duties. The incumbent performs other reled duties as assigned by supervisor. Working Conditions: The incumbent's work is performed mostly inside, occasionally outside and is usually dusty and di1ty. The incumbent is sometimes required to make installions and repairs in hard-to-reach areas. The incumbent is frequently exposed to possible cuts and bruises and occasionally is exposed to electrical shock and bums. Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided for use by staff to minimize any potential injury in accordance with industry standards. Work may be assigned other locions under the jurisdiction of the Wilkes-Barre Medical Center which requires the incumbent to travel to and from the site in a Government Owned Vehicle (GOV); i.e., the Community Based Outpient Clinics and Scranton Vet Center. Therefore, the incumbent is required to complete and maintain all necessary training associed with the use of a GOV. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 4:30pm Position Description Title/PD#: Electrician/PD01811A Physical Requirements : The incumbent must make installions and repairs from ladders, scaffolds, and plforms and where the parts of the system are in hard-to-reach places. The incumbent is required to stand, stoop, reach, bend, kneel, climb, and work in confined spaces in uncomfortable positions.
