We are currently seeking to add a Structural Project Engineer to our dynamic team in Portland, Oregon, or Vancouver, Seattle, or Issaquah, Washington.

Apex is seeking a project engineer to join our growing structural engineering department. This person will have experience designing transportation structures such as bridges, retaining walls, and large culverts. Apex provides planning, engineering, and construction management services for transportation, industrial, and environmental projects throughout the United States, but we specialize in local projects that make a difference where we work and live. The projects you work on will primarily be in the Pacific Northwest.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable leading small to medium-sized structural projects with limited direction, while also working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. Support and mentorship will be available as needed, but the position requires the ability to take initiative, problem-solve, and manage structural tasks independently

Job Responsibilities:

* Plan and perform structural engineering for transportation and industrial projects, including preparing calculations

* Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimate packages

* Collaborate with our multi-discipline teams to provide the integrated, efficient services that our clients value

* Support field investigations and construction-phase services as necessary

* Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and permitting requirements. Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, WSDOT BDM, Oregon BDM, and similar codes and standards

* Work with and lead junior engineers and technical staff

You Will Work on Projects that Include:

Bridge rehabilitation and retrofit

New bridge design

Culvert replacements

Retaining wall design

Landslide mitigation

Marine structure design

Industrial site development

Public works infrastructure

Condition assessment and repair

Minimum Qualifications Include:

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE)

Professional Engineer (PE) license
