POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Perform and operate on asphalt repairs and parking lot repairs by: digging out the bad asphalt, compacting fill material, and placing repaired asphalt. Interpret work required from service orders, scope of work, and project blueprints for oversight on project and quality control. Perform maintenance on all unimproved surfaces such as trails, bivouac sites, helicopter landing zones, training areas and maneuver lanes. Ditching, grading, shaping, and covering roadways across the installation. Perform maintenance on and operate different models of tractors with the following attachments: 15ft bat wing rotary cutters, 10ft and 6ft rotary cutters, stump grinders, 6ft rotary tree cutter. Trenches and digs drainage ditches, emplaces riprap, grass seed, matting and various other methods of erosion control. Must track equipment maintenance, fuel consumption, and usage to ensure adequate supply. Maintain clean work site and perform maintenance on tools and equipment as required. Operate and maintain a variety of heavy equipment to include excavator, bulldozer, sheep foot, and road grader. Perform maintenance on / operate 5-ton dump truck and zero turn lawn mowers. Properly load and secure heavy equipment, maintain and track O&T vehicles for monthly mileage reports, track maintenance logs for O&T equipment. Report to work on time, dress IAW LMD SOP, personal hygiene IAW LMD SOP, and follow all the regulations, policies, and complete all required LMD training. Organizational support functions require knowledge in the use of gas torches, wire feed MIG-welder, portable stick welder, and various metal cutting tools. Perform all other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:Must have a combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates proficiency in the operation of heavy equipment. Must possess military, or civilian equivalent, heavy equipment operator licenses or certifications. Must have knowledge of all applicable safety laws and regulations (OSHA). Must maintain a valid driver's license. Must have the ability to lift 25 pounds unassisted, including above the shoulder, must have the ability to work emergency situations.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a valid Driver's License, Social Security Card and Birth Certificate.
- Must be available to report to duty during emergency or disaster situations for extended hours over an extended period of time. Other periodic travel may be required.
- Must meet physical requirements to perform functions of the position.
- Must attend/complete all Louisiana Military Department (LMD) annual training and other training required for the position.
- Must adhere to the Code of Ethics and foster a Sexual Harassment-Free Environment.
