Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.

We are seeking an experienced Architect to serve as the project’s architectural subject matter expert. The successful candidate will provide technical inspections, design compliance reviews, and architectural quality assurance in accordance with U.S. building standards and contract requirements.

This position supports the Compound Security Upgrade (CSU) and MCAC Replacement Project for the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) in Warsaw, Poland . As an Architect, you will play a key role in ensuring the integrity, safety, and quality of architectural elements in the delivery of secure diplomatic infrastructure.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee the contractor’s architectural work for compliance with design documents
  • Conduct onsite inspections to assess quality of materials, workmanship, and adherence to specifications
  • Review and interpret architectural drawings, narratives, and calculations
  • Evaluate engineering shop drawings for architectural design compliance
  • Monitor contractor quality control and safety programs
  • Prepare weekly progress reports based on field inspections and project document reviews
  • Identify and document non-compliance or construction issues; recommend solutions to the Project Director
  • Review submittals and ensure architectural coordination with other disciplines
  • Provide construction reports and architectural input throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensure construction methods and materials conform to U.S. codes and best practices
  • Participate in problem resolution and support project meetings as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Project Director or COR

Qualifications to be successful in the role:

  • Degree in Architecture
  • Must be a Registered Architect (RA)
  • Minimum 7 years of experience on construction projects of similar scope and value (design office experience not counted).
  • Overseas construction experience is strongly preferred.
  • Must hold at minimum a Final Secret Clearance, with ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.
  • Strong knowledge of international building codes and architectural practices
  • Familiarity with U.S. safety regulations (EM 385-1-1, OSHA)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent skills in reading and interpreting architectural and multidisciplinary drawings
  • Ability to identify issues in field construction and recommend corrective action
