Job Title: Design Engineer
Job Description
This Design Engineer will be responsible for creating detailed 3D models and assembly drawings using SolidWorks. The primary focus will be on the design and development of complete chassis systems, chassis components, chassis cabs, and various other mechanical parts. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in mechanical design and be highly proficient in 3D solid modeling. Collaboration with the shop floor to verify fit and function is essential, ensuring that designs are accurately translated into physical components.
Responsibilities
- Create detailed 3D models and assembly drawings using SolidWorks.
- Design and develop complete chassis systems, chassis components, and chassis cabs.
- Collaborate with the shop floor to verify fit and function of designs.
- Ensure designs are accurate and delivered on time to meet project requirements.
Essential Skills
- 5+ years experience in mechanical design using SolidWorks 3D.
- Experience designing fabricated metal components.
- Experience supporting troubleshooting on the manufacturing floor.
- Understanding of tolerance standards (ANSI/ASME, GD&T).
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience creating BOM.
- Experience with air and hydraulic schematics.
- Experience in heavy truck or transportation chassis design.
- CSWP certification.
Work Environment
Work alongside other engineers in an engineering building, primarily designing at a cubicle with some interaction on the shop floor. Collaborate with a team of 10 engineers, including 8 Design Engineers and 2 Electrical Engineers. Standard work schedule is Monday to Friday, 7 or 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, with a possibility of a 4-day week (Monday-Thursday, 6 am-4 pm) after the first day. Six holidays are provided, with no additional PTO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $46.00/hr.
