Job Description As a Construction Estimator, you will take full ownership of the bidding processfrom identifying opportunities and attending job walks to preparing competitive bids and collaborating with field and office teams. - Identify and pursue civil and public works job opportunities.
- Attend job walks and gather all necessary site and project information.
- Lead the end-to-end estimating process, including takeoffs, cost analysis, and bid submissions.
- Collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, and clients throughout the preconstruction phase.
- Conduct occasional field visits to ensure alignment between estimates and real-world conditions.
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation for all bids and estimates.
- 1-5 years of experience as an Estimator.
- Proficiency in construction estimating, takeoffs, and cost planning.
- Familiarity with estimating software such as On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, ProEst, PlanSwift.
- Strong understanding of scope development and pricing strategies.
- Proven ability to lead client meetings, presentations, and follow-ups.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting civil engineering plans.
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Highly organized with excellent time management.
- Experience with municipal portals and public agency bidding processes.
- Familiarity with NAVFAC, federal work, and government contracting.
- Existing relationships with local agencies such as City/County of San Diego, water districts.
- Broad construction knowledge, including framing, concrete, general building.
