The Water Services Department is seeking to hire a Senior Engineering Technician. In this role, you will perform a variety of Civil and Technical engineering work duties which may include:
- Area calculation and construction blueprint/plan interpretation,
- Estimating costs and assessments,
- Reviewing plans and maps,
- Issuing permits, and processing cash transactions.
Additionally, this position will require daily contact with customers in person and on the phone.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Ability to read and comprehend simple specifications, plans, and shop drawings.
- Proficiency with using Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
SALARY
Pay Range: $22.08 - $41.63 per hour.
Hiring Range: $22.08 - $32.62 per hour.

- Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Two years of experience in paraprofessional engineering work within the past three years.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
- All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
- Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

Working conditions:
- Working outside in a variety of environmental extremes such as heat, cold, rain, air pollution, and dust may be required.
- Walking for prolonged periods, which may include walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces may be required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and KIVA/KIVA IMS applications.
- College Degree in engineering, math, business, or business administration.
- Water Distribution System Operator certifications.
- Experience in/with the following:
- Reading and interpreting plat maps, as-builts, quarter section maps, boundary books, etc.
- Providing high levels of customer service in person, over the phone, and using email.
- Plan review, electronic plan review and/or Water/Wastewater Plan review.
- Managing multiple professional services and construction contracts.
- Working with developers or contractors in the construction field.
- Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping software.
- Reviewing site, traffic or signing and striping plans.
- Water, Sewer and/or ROW Field Construction.
- Performing basic mathematical computations.
- Reviewing less complex construction plans.
- Routing and tracking construction plans.
- Working in an addressing system.
- Reading and interpreting plans.
- Water Services Department.
- Field construction.
