Job Summary:
Cougar USA is a leading supplier of water control systems for commercial building applications, specializing in Pre-Engineered and Custom-Designed solutions for water pressure, level, temperature, flow, and quality.
The Estimator is responsible for generating accurate project quotes for both new construction and aftermarket services. This role requires a strong ability to analyze blueprints, specifications, and related documents to make appropriate equipment selections. The Estimator works closely with various departments to prepare proposals and ensure they meet quality standards and deadlines. A key aspect of this role is maintaining excellent customer service, both internally and externally, to support outside and inside sales teams effectively.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Generate project quotes for new construction and aftermarket services.
- Make precise equipment selections based on engineering requests.
- Provide support to both outside and inside sales teams.
- Proposal Coordination: Coordinate the preparation of proposals/quotations, collaborating with various departments to gather necessary inputs and meet deadlines.
- Cost Estimation: Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying requests, blueprints, specifications, and other documents.
- Cost Analysis: Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
- Discrepancy Resolution: Resolve any discrepancies by collecting and analyzing relevant information.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all work adheres to established quality standards and procedures.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Interpret blueprints and drawings to determine the appropriate equipment to bid on.
- Estimate Presentation: Present prepared estimates by compiling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
- Reporting: Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Record Keeping: Provide historical reference by managing a contract and quote archive.
- Continuous Learning: Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical publications.
- Customer Relationships: Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
Required Qualifications:
- Degree: Minimum of a 2-year degree in Engineering or Finance.
- Experience: Background in manufacturing engineering or a related field, along with relevant work experience.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities for interpreting data and making informed decisions.
- Mathematical Proficiency: Competence in both basic and advanced mathematics.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables; experience with QuickBooks or similar systems.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to Detail: High level of organization, strong attention to detail, and computer literacy.
- Multi-Tasking: Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines efficiently.
- Follow-Up: Strong ability to follow up on pending issues and ensure they are resolved.
