Mid-Senior Bracing (Civil/Structural) Engineer

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Mid-Senior Bracing (Civil/Structural) Engineer in Pleasanton, CA.

Summary:This position is responsible for independently delivering engineering services, with a proven track record of excellence from conceptual design through construction completion.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Independently complete conceptual design through construction drawing development for bracing of pipes, HVAC etc. for large complex projects or multiple projects simultaneously
• Appropriate engagement of engineering applications and/or managers in project decisions
• Proactively communicate and coordinate project designs with Project Management, Construction and Service departments, Controls, and other trade partners
• Field engineering: assist with project execution, trade coordination, scheduling, document management and problem solving/troubleshooting, as required
• Effectively and professionally communicate with colleagues and project team members
• Manage time to meet project schedules and task deadlines
• Equipment anchorage calculations and PE wet stamped installation package including BOM
• Equipment vibration isolation calculations and PE wet stamped installation package including BOM
• Design roof top duct and pipe supports, and PE stamped installation package including BOM
• Riser duct and pipe supports, and PE stamped installation package
• Seismic restraint calculations for duct and pipe
• Roof structure verification of existing structures for equipment replacement
• Structural design of equipment skids
• Design of supplemental steel for equipment, duct or pipe supports including BOM
• Create templates and standard designs for supports, attachments and seismic bracing that creates an economy of scale that is cost effective to install and build
• Other duties as assigned by Manager* BS in Structural or Civil Engineering
• Professional Engineer license highly desirable, but not required; Must be able to obtain within a short period of time
• 8+ years of experience in structural design of bracing systems (pipes, HVAC, etc.)
• Excellent understanding of engineering and design fundamentals
• Excellent familiarity with building codes and industry standards
• Thorough understanding of seismic bracing design, attachment design, supplemental support design
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit or Bluebeam, or similar drafting software preferred
• Knowledgeable with 3D modeling software to create design and installation packages
• Expert in project planning, coordination, and execution
• Expert level understanding of building codes, structural guidelines, and best practices
• Excellent understanding of ACCO engineering standards and project execution processes
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Able to work independently with limited oversight, as well as being part of a highly collaborative team
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and multitask
