Our San Francisco Studio is growing, and we are looking for highly motivated, talented and enthusiastic Project Architect- Interiors to join a highly collaborative and dynamic Interiors design and technical team with opportunities for growth. The ideal individual will have 8+ years of experience and a self-starter with strong project architect skills. Professionals with experience in Workplace projects and a strong interest in Interiors are welcome to apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Project responsibility for planning, development, and execution of technical documentation, which may include interpreting, organizing, and coordinating project team assignments.
  • Understands all aspects of the design process and project complexities to proactively contribute to the overall success of the team while adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in design, project management, execution and living design.
  • Understands and responds to technical implications, design decisions and project financial goals.
  • Coordinates project documentation development and the production of deliverable drawings and specifications.
  • Reviews deliverables at each phase for conformance with firm standards, contractual obligations and project design intent, with a focus on quality, accuracy, legibility, completeness and constructability.
  • Responsible for addressing Quality Control review comments at each phase.
  • Manages project Quality Assurance and adherence with Perkins&Will standards.
  • Leads project coordination efforts among internal disciplines (architecture, interior design, landscape architecture) and with external consultants.
  • Communicates with clients related to project technical matters.
  • Administers project regulatory reviews (building code, accessibility, zoning) and coordination with, and submission to, authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Leads construction contract administration responsibilities including: submittal review and response, RFI review and response, field observation and reporting and project closeout.
  • Maintains awareness of evolving building technology and engineering systems relevant to project work.
  • Contributes to project marketing pursuits, proposal preparation and interviews.
  • Participates in design reviews, charettes and pin-ups.
  • Demonstrates strong and effective communication, decision making and collaboration, which inspires high team performance.
  • Mentors staff

DESIGN & TECHNICAL

  • Works in tandem with designers to coordinate design development and construction documents.
  • Responds to the technical implications of design decisions.
  • Facilitates firm and project goals of excellence in design, execution, and sustainability.
  • Directs production of schematics, design development, and construction documents in collaboration with Project Managers.
  • Coordinates project documentation execution, construction plans, and details, ensuring quality control and completion.
  • Maintains awareness of evolving building technology and systems.
  • Coordinates engineering systems relevant to projects.
  • Reviews shop drawings, material samples, and CD for conformance with design.
  • Conducts and documents field observations to monitor the progress of construction.
  • Performs construction administration duties (e.g. RFI’s, RFP’s, change orders, etc.).
  • Prepares reports and specifications; reviews completed reports, plans, cost estimates, and calculations.
  • Executes applicable agency review analysis (accessibility, zoning, life safety, etc.).
  • Ensures tasks are completed according to the Perkins&Will standards.

MANAGEMENT

  • May establish architectural budgets, task schedules, and other components of the project work plan with the Project Managers.
  • Directs or coordinates the production of construction documents, drawings, and specifications in compliance with project scope, schedule, and cost.
  • Implements meeting objectives, facilitates meetings, and provides documentation in collaboration with the Project Managers.
  • May participate in marketing and client presentations.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Professional degree in architecture
  • 8-10 years of experience
  • Architect Licensure
  • LEED GA and Professional Accreditation in one area of Living Design (LEED AP with Specialty, WELL AP, etc.) or obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Demonstrates collaborative and professional work ethic.
  • Experienced in all phases of project design, construction documentation production, and construction materials.
  • Familiar with building codes, specifications, building, and engineering systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including client presentation skills.
  • Strong passion for working relationships with clients and consultants, building relationships, and expanding the practice.
  • Advanced knowledge of Revit and ability to interpret and review Revit drawings.
  • Knowledge of conceptual and computational modeling tools such as Rhino, including Grasshopper scripting
  • Microsoft Office and 365
  • Adobe Creative Cloud (including presentation tools such as InDesign and Photoshop)
  • Visualization tools such as Enscape, Lumion and VRay
  • Physical modeling tools such as 3D Printing and Laser cutting
  • Environmental Analysis software such as Pollination Ladybug and Climate Studio
  • Healthcare experience or interest in healthcare preferred
