Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer

Our plant located in Sterling Heights, MI is looking for a highly motivated and results-driven Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team!

The role of the Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer is to manage the quality improvement of purchased parts during serial life and the day-to-day supplier relationship for the Sterling Heights plant.

About The Job:

• Maintain PPAP files, conduct periodic requalification, and perform R&R process audits.
• Manage defect catalogs, evolve boundary samples, request/validate initial component samples, and define/supervise plant incoming inspections.
• Obtain conformity and QMS certificates, ensuring adherence to OEM/MSAS requirements throughout serial life.
• Implement temporary quality walls, issue/manage quality claims (8D reports), validate supplier action plans, handle escalations/de-escalations, manage charge-backs, and calculate/report supplier KPIs, including follow-up on worst supplier plans.
• Conduct supplier/special audits (including corrective action follow-up), ensure supplier actions on unsecured S/R characteristics, and manage NOK/blocked parts (Jail) and RMAs.
• Coordinate function build events and manage supplier ECRs in serial life, with SQA responsibilities shared between Saltillo and STH plants.

Qualifications:

• Engineering degree or equivalent.
• Experience in Automotive quality
• Proficient in IATF 16949, Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC), VDA standards (RGA, 2, 5, 6.3, 6.5), CSRs, GD&T, and Gage.
• Experienced in APQP/PPAP project management, QA file follow-up, variability reduction, statistical methodology, and strict supplier control/improvement plans.
• Skilled in 8D QRCI and 8 QB in Production.
• Familiar with second-party audits, debit alerts, and scorecard evaluations.
