Mechanical Engineer – Mid-Level

Job Summary:

The Mechanical Engineer serves to focus on the design of mechanical systems for new facilities, additions, and renovation projects. This will require providing technical leadership for the creation of construction drawings and specifications, and existing system condition studies. Qualified candidates will meet with clients, project teams, code officials, contractors, and others to address mechanical issues and develop effective working relationships. The project clientele includes higher education, commercial, hospitality, municipal, and institutional facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering design, evaluation, and planning of mechanical systems for a variety of market types
  • Develop HVAC system designs for projects based on scope of work and/or client RFPs
  • Review junior engineer’s design calculations and selection of equipment
  • Write/edit project specifications
  • Code compliance research
  • Coordinate work with other disciplines
  • Provide construction administration services
  • Perform QA/QC of detailed design documents, reports, and studies
  • Oversee and provide guidance to junior engineers

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication
    • Proficiency in Revit software
  • Knowledge and understanding of AutoCAD and MS Office
  • Knowledge and understanding of Building Codes
  • Familiarity with industry standards and codes (e.g., ASHRAE, SMACNA, etc.)
  • Ability to organize, balance, and prioritize multiple projects
  • Ability to solve problems and make analytical, timely, and well thought out decisions
  • Have an excellent work ethic and attitude

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of design/engineering consulting experience is preferred
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related science
  • Florida PE License (or on path to obtain)

Work Environment:

  • This position requires occasional travel to client locations.
  • Work is typically performed in an office setting, with some time spent in the field and at client locations.
