Mechanical Delivery Manager Licensed Professional Engineer Position Overview

The Mechanical Delivery Manager is a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) who leads the full lifecycle delivery of complex mechanical systems. This role encompasses HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, process piping, refrigeration, and building automation projects for commercial, institutional, and industrial clients. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with proven project management skills to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own project delivery from conceptual design through commissioning and closeout for all mechanical disciplines.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, budgets, resource allocations, risk registers, and schedules.
  • Coordinate cross-discipline teams including design engineers, drafters, contractors, vendors, and client representatives.
  • Ensure compliance with codes and standards such as ASHRAE, NFPA, IMC, UPC, ASME B31, and local jurisdictional requirements.
  • Lead design reviews, value-engineering workshops, and constructability assessments to optimize performance and cost.
  • Oversee submittals, shop drawing reviews, RFIs, and change order management to control scope and mitigate delays.
  • Drive on-site quality assurance, safety inspections, testing, and commissioning activities to verify system performance.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff, fostering professional growth and knowledge sharing.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison for clients, addressing inquiries, providing updates, and resolving issues promptly.
  • Monitor project financials including cost estimating, forecasting, invoicing, and margin analysis.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the applicable state or region.
  • Minimum 8 years of mechanical engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a delivery leadership role.
  • Proven track record managing multi-discipline mechanical projects valued at $1M+.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical system design principles across HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and process piping.
  • Proficiency with BIM tools (Revit MEP), AutoCAD, and engineering analysis software.
  • Familiarity with construction contracts (GMP, Lump Sum, Design-Build) and procurement processes.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, LEED AP, or WELL AP.
  • Experience integrating building automation systems (BAS) and controls.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration systems and industrial process mechanics.
  • Demonstrated leadership in Lean Construction or IPD project delivery methods.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate, influence, and maintain stakeholder relationships.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites (up to 25%).

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $50.00/hr.
