Senior Civil Engineering Project Manager

Overview

A well-established civil engineering firm is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Civil Engineering Project Manager to lead transportation infrastructure projects and mentor a growing team of Project Managers. This leadership role involves strategic oversight of engineering deliverables, client development, and operational planning for municipal, county, and state roadway and bridge projects.

Responsibilities

As the Senior Civil Engineering Project Manager, you will:

Oversee multiple Project Managers across offices and mentor junior leaders.

Manage the engineering backlog for the transportation department to ensure effective prioritization and execution of projects.

Cultivate and maintain long-term client relationships, ensuring alignment with business objectives and satisfaction across all project stages.

Guide pursuit strategies for public transportation contracts and collaborate with business development teams on proposal efforts.

Provide technical oversight on state (e.g., DOT Phase I and II) and local transportation infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license in Illinois or the ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil preferred).

Experience: 15+ years of progressive experience in roadway and bridge design projects, including management and mentorship of civil engineering staff.

Technical Skills:

Required: Microsoft 365, Adobe

Preferred: AutoCAD Civil 3D

Leadership & Strategy: Strong ability to lead cross-office teams, manage client portfolios, and support strategic growth initiatives.

Location: Schaumburg, IL. Hybrid work flexibility offered. Occasional regional travel may be required.
