New England Institute of Technology is seeking adjunct instructors in the fields of architecture and construction management. We are seeking colleagues who embrace the idea of helping students achieve their goals and are committed to academic excellence. Adjunct teaching positions are available both day (primarily) and evening.
The instructor will be responsible for effective teaching in on-campus, face-to-face classroom delivery.
POSITION FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:The teaching position will lecture and instruct laboratory course work in various Architecture and Construction related curriculum. We are looking for an individual that can cross over from construction and architecture and serve both sets of students. This will demand an individual that has education and experience in both fields. In the construction program this person must be able to teach topics from the basics of building materials and methods to specific skills of things like construction law, estimation, and mechanical systems. To best serve the architecture students a candidate must be a licensed architect, active in the building industry, and able to teach the fundamentals content knowledge and skills of architecture and design. Skills will include, computer aided design, building information modeling, and project scheduling and estimation software packages. Specifically, the candidate should have an understanding of the most current version of CAD design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and PlanSwift. . The specific duties and responsibilities are as follows:
Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and vision of New England Institute of Technology.
Prepares, teaches, and evaluates assigned instructional courses
Updates course syllabi to reflect changes.
Advises students as it relates to school policies, satisfactory performance, etc.
Provides curriculum insight and guidance regarding continuous improvement initiatives for the program.
Participates in program advisory committee meetings as required.
Develops supplemental teaching materials to augment courses.
Creates, maintains, and updates course information as well as grades.
Implements new teaching strategies as appropriate.
Evaluates textbooks for relevancy, quality and currency and makes recommendations as necessary as per established policy.
Maintains accurate records of students' attendance and performance.
Adheres to assigned teaching load/hours.
Integrates new technology in instructional delivery methods.
Adheres to/enforce policies and procedures related to academic area.
Maintains a hazard free environment and practices safety in lab(s) or classroom.
Adheres to college's policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Construction and/or Architecture or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Licensed/Registered Architect in Massachusetts and/or Rhode Island.
Certifications and/or licensure in Construction
Minimum of ten (10) years of recent, relevant professional work experience in construction and architecture (some combination of both is preferred).
Experience using AutoCAD suite in both 2D and 3D applications as they apply to various Industry areas.
Extensive experience using PlanSwift for project estimation and scheduling
Three (3) years teaching experience in higher education in the fields of architecture and construction management.
