Job Description
KPFF, Inc. is seeking a Structural Design Engineer for its Tacoma, WA office.
Job Duties: Responsible for structural design engineering for heavy civil, structural, industrial, and waterfront infrastructure projects in the Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan area, including ports, ferry terminals, industrial developments, shipyards, cruise terminals, small boat harbors and marinas, storm water management, and fisheries engineering. Provide guidance to support consultants including pre-stressed concrete and seismic design analysis, non-linear pushover analysis, and soil-structure interaction analysis. Perform analysis and create and model structural designs using ASCE 61-14, AASHTO, IBC, ASCE-7, AISC, ACI, and NDS, as well as SAP2000, L-Pile, MS Excel, and VBA. Telecommuting permitted 2 days/week.
Minimum Requirements: Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering or a related field, plus one (1) year of experience in each of the following:
Developing structural analysis and design calculations using software such as ENERCALC and MS Excel.
Performing site visits to evaluate existing structural conditions and observed structural issues.
Developing condition assessment reports for existing structures.
Structural design for different material types such as concrete, steel, and timber.
Structural design utilizing design codes such as IBC, ASCE 7-16, ACI, AISC and NDS.
Developing structural details and drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD.
Requires local and domestic travel up to 10%.
