Description
Position Summary
CFX is seeking a dependable and skilled Facility Maintenance Assistant/Handyman to support the upkeep and repair of our 17 club locations throughout the Chicagoland area. This role is critical to ensuring that our clubs remain clean, safe, and fully operational for both members and staff. Responsibilities include hands-on work in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting, and other general maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with routine maintenance and inspections of HVAC systems.
Perform basic plumbing repairs such as fixing leaks, unclogging drains, and replacing fixtures.
Conduct minor electrical repairs including replacing light fixtures and troubleshooting outlets.
Patch, paint, and maintain club interiors and exteriors.
Respond promptly to facility repair requests from club managers and staff.
Assemble and maintain fitness equipment, furniture, and fixtures.
Keep tools and maintenance supplies organized and in good condition.
Travel to various club locations to address scheduled or emergency maintenance needs.
Support the Facilities Manager with special projects and vendor coordination.
Requirements
Qualifications
Previous experience in facility or building maintenance preferred.
Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Able to work independently and communicate clearly with staff.
Physically capable of lifting, going up/down a ladder and performing manual tasks.
Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to multiple locations daily.
Preferred Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate for this role is: - Experienced in multi-site facility maintenance (e.g., gyms, hospitality, retail). - Technically capable in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and painting work. - Self-motivated and dependable, able to manage work with minimal supervision. - Physically fit and able to work with ladders, tools, and equipment. - Organized and efficient, with strong prioritization and time management skills. - Professional and respectful, with good interpersonal communication skills. - Flexible and mobile, able to travel daily within the Chicagoland area.
Compensation
Hourly Wage: $23-$32 per hour (based on experience and skill set)
This competitive rate reflects the demands and responsibilities of maintaining multiple club locations across the Chicago area.
Work Environment
Mix of indoor and outdoor work across various CFX club sites.
Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for urgent repairs.
