STATEMENT OF JOB:

Under the direction of Lighting and Projections Supervisor & Associate, assist in the mounting of the design of up to 4 Huntington productionseach season. House electrician operates the lighting systems and maintains the lighting plot during the run of Huntington productions. With Training may be asked to run and maintain the projections system as well supervise any additional production staff such as deck electricians or follow spot operators.

Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, reviews lighting plots and paperwork from rental clients and gives feedback regarding safety and feasibility. Creates a weing environment to support the rental residency, ensuring safe practices are being followed in the theatre, striving for client satisfaction. While rentals are in residence the House Electrician may be responsible for leading a crew of electricians for install and strike of lighting equipment, designing lighting looks and programming and running cues for external shows.

Assists in the supervision of freelance staff during Huntington and rental productions. Oversees and maintains all electrics equipment in the venue. Assists with other projects on and off the Huntington campus, as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

Assists with preparation and installation of lighting plots for assigned Huntington Productions and Rentals, including supervision of crew during pre-production, load-in, dress rehearsals, and previews. Executes the show for the run of the productionmunicating any notes to the supervisors.

Operates and maintains the related physical and technical aspects while upholding the artistic intent of the production during the run. Responsible for upkeep and maintenance of house, lobby and exterior lighting instrumentation.

Operates the Raynok motion control console (automated rigging) as needed during lighting calls for Huntington and rental productions. System training will be provided.

Install and program projections as needed by productions. Equipment and software training will be provided.

Provides assistance, guidance, training, and supervision to rental users under the direction of the venue staff and/or Lighting and Projections Supervisor.

Assists with rentals and events as part of the Venue Management team, which may involve work not directly related to electrics, such as setting up tables, chairs, seating risers, or various production work in other departments.

Designs and programs lights for special events, parties, and one-off performances. Sets and operates TV monitors, projectors, and other presentational equipment.

Opens and closes the facility when required.

Assists with Huntington productions produced at venues as required.

Uses safe practices regarding the use of production systems, equipment, and work habits as well as instructing others in safety practices.

Maintains related equipment, systems, and workspaces in the venue, including performance and support areas. Responsible for day-to-day operation of fall protection systems, and trains new personnel on appropriate operation. Trains and certifies new personnel on MEWP operation.

Coordinates with the venue staff, production staff and rental users to formulate plans and schedules for the smooth and efficient running of the productions.

Communicates with supervisors, designers, stage managers, and rental staff regarding the implementation of the production, specifically during load-in, focus, and technical rehearsals.

Qualifications:

REQUIREMENTS:

2-4 years of professional theatrical lighting experience or a degree in a related field.

Must be familiar with the maintenance, operation and installation of basic lighting equipment. Have knowledge and skill in the operation of ETC consoles, networks and dimmer racks, and knowledge of DMX controlled equipment such as LED Fixtures, automated lighting fixtures, and effects equipment.

Must be able to read and execute lighting plans and be able to operate lighting software such as Lightwright and Vectorworks.

The nature of production facilities with a grid and line sets, catwalks, loading rails, etc, requires the use of ladders and fall arrest equipment and create a considerable hazard, requiring applicants to possess physical mobility and capability to climb and work up to 60' above deck.

Ability to move equipment that ranges from 25-125 pounds.
