Konik is partnering with an engineering client to find a driven and detail-oriented Inspection Engineer / Structural Engineer to support geotechnical, construction materials, and environmental engineering projects across the United States. This role is ideal for an engineer with a background in field work, civil inspection, or construction project support who is eager to grow into a broader project engineering function.
You'll play a vital role in field observation, documentation, and technical reporting for a variety of infrastructure and development projects. As your career progresses, you'll also support project design, proposal development, and client coordination.
Position Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive visual inspections of structural systems, including steel frames, reinforced concrete, wall panels, foundations, and roof systems in large industrial and agricultural facilities.
Assess structural integrity and identify signs of distress such as cracking, corrosion, deformation, spalling, or misalignment in high-load areas of buildings like grain bins, silos, and processing towers.
Document field observations with annotated photos, condition ratings, and detailed notes for use in engineering assessments and maintenance planning.
Evaluate structural elements exposed to heavy equipment vibration, moisture intrusion, chemical exposure, and thermal cycling common in ethanol and manufacturing environments.
Prepare inspection reports with findings, recommendations for repairs or further testing, and estimated timelines for corrective action based on observed conditions.
Collaborate with facility managers, maintenance teams, and engineers to prioritize repairs and ensure ongoing structural safety and compliance with industry standards.
Document site activities and produce daily field reports using Clear Creek's standard templates and practices.
Assist in the preparation of engineering reports, calculations, and recommendations under the guidance of senior engineers.
Coordinate with clients, contractors, and project managers to resolve field discrepancies or testing concerns.
Support proposal development by gathering project requirements, scopes of work, and past performance data.
Travel to project sites throughout the state (overnight travel may be required based on project location).
Position Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.
3-6 years of experience in construction inspection, structural engineering, field engineering, or materials testing.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and testing requirements.
Experience working in agribusiness (grain processing, grain elevators, etc.), industrial, or commercial settings is preferred.
Strong communication skills and professional demeanor with clients and contractors.
Valid driver's license and ability to work in a field-based environment in varying weather conditions.
Willingness to travel 50% of the time.
EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification or a willingness to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is preferred but not required.
