Under general supervision from the Engineering Section Manager, performs civil engineering duties in support of private and municipal (public) construction and development projects.
*This position performs duties deemed to be safety sensitive" and is therefore subjected to random drug testing under the Citys policies*
  • Performs technical review of design and development plans (grading, detention basin, streets, utilities, etc.) to ensure compliance with city standards, municipal codes, and best practices.
  • Prepares development agreements associated with private projects.
  • Provides support and data to the Planning Division in the preparation of agenda items and fact sheets for the City Council, Planning Commission, and Board of Adjustment.
  • Performs engineering technical review of preliminary plats, conditional final plats, and final plats.
  • Performs civil engineering technical review of site plans. Releases site plans when all engineering issues have been resolved.
  • Assists in the design and review of public and private engineering projects as needed.
  • Coordinates civil engineering plan reviews, plat reviews, and site plan reviews with consulting engineers, developers, co-workers, and other City departments.
  • Assists land developers, engineers, and the public on engineering issues and requirements.
  • Schedules, attends and conducts pre-development meetings to discuss engineering requirements for private development, and answer developer's questions.
  • Prepares GIS analyses to present and document the development services projects.
  • Provides office support for Utility Inspector.
  • Assists the general public with engineering related issues associated with their property.
  • Performs field investigations related to potential or ongoing projects or public safety issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in a course of study related to the occupational field, supplemented by one to two years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Class D Driver's License issued by the State of Oklahoma. Possession of, or ability to pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination within 12 months of hire. Ability to pass the examination for licensure as Professional Engineer in the State of Oklahoma within twelve months of employment preferred.Tasks involve the ability to exert minimal physical effort in sedentary work, typically involving some combination of balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, handling, hearing, kneeling, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, walking and which involves some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
