The outcome of the Skilled Maintenance Specialist Plumber's job performance will be as follows:
- General plumbing systems will have been properly installed.
- Existing systems will have been repaired and maintained.
- Water piping-galvanized, black iron, copper and P.V.C. will have been properly installed.
- Water taps will have been properly repaired or replaced.
- Piping for hot water heating systems will have been properly repaired or replaced.
- Valves will have been properly repaired or replaced.
- Ball cocks, fittings and other equipment will have been repaired or replaced.
- Pipes will have been cut and threaded.
- Drains and obstructions in water and sewer system will have been thoroughly cleaned out.
- Underground plumbing systems will have been repaired or replaced
- Sprinkler systems will have been properly repaired, replaced or installed.
- Parts on water heaters will have been repaired or replaced.
- Plumbing equipment and fixtures will have been repaired or replaced.
- Water heaters will have been replaced.
- Gas leaks will have been properly repaired.
- Drinking fountains will have been repaired or replaced.
- Gas and water appliances will have been properly connected.
- Inventory will have been maintained.
- Supplies, as needed, will have been correctly ordered.
- Other work, as required, will have been completed
Equivalent to graduation from high school.
EXPERIENCE:
(4) Four years of journeyman-level experience in the plumbing trade.
SPECIAL LICENSE/REQUIREMENTS:
Possess and maintain a valid California operator's license to operate District vehicles as determined by the District and liability insurance carrier. Must provide own hand tools.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Plans and specifications; standard practices, materials, hand and power tools of one or more trade; safety practices and regulations pertaining to the trade; applicable city, county, state and building codes.
ABILITY TO:
Read plans and specifications; use tools and machinery of the trades, follow written and oral instructions; work from sketches and diagrams.
PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to relate effectively with staff, students, parents and community, good judgment and flexibility.
APPOINTMENT:
An employee in this class must serve a probationary period of six (6) months during which time an employee must demonstrate at least an overall satisfactory performance. Failure to do so shall result in the employee's termination.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
