What you will be doing:
Equipment Operator Journey 2:
- Perform snow and ice removal using plow/sanders and graders with all attachments
- Learn and understand techniques, routes, and potential obstructions for effective operation
- Apply abrasives (e.g., sand) as traction aids
- Make situational decisions on where and how much abrasive to apply based on conditions
- Operate graders, loaders, snow blowers, and dozers for all aspects of snow haul operations
- Learn techniques for pulling snow and recognizing obstructions
- Load trucks efficiently and safely
- Maintain accountability for contractor trucks
- Assist with snow dump maintenance to support overall operational success

This is a non-permanent on-call position located in Cantwell, Alaska, within the Denali District. Expect a dynamic, fast-paced environment with varied responsibilities and conditions. COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE REQUIRED
This position requires the incumbent to possess a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) per federal regulations (49 CFR 383), to register with the federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse prior to performing safety-sensitive duties, and to provide consent to the Employer to review driver information in accordance with 49 CFR 382.
Equipment Operator Journey 2
A Class A Alaska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with N-Tanker endorsement, is required at time of hire. A conditional hire approval can only be given for endorsements. This means that the proposed appointee must successfully obtain N-Tanker and Hazmat endorsements within 90 days of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION & PUBLIC FACILITIES DRUG AND ALCOHOL POLICY
Selected candidates must comply with the DOT&PF Drug and Alcohol Policy and procedures and CANNOT start work in a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) position until Management Services or designee has received confirmation of the proposed appointee passing the required Pre-Employment drug test. According to federal regulations, all violations and refusals will be maintained with the Federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse database.
EDUCATION
To verify education is being used to meet and/or support the required minimum qualifications/competencies, you must fill in the Education section of the application. Copies of transcripts are required to verify educational credentials used to meet or support the minimum qualifications/competencies for a position and are required with each application.
