JOB SUMMARY:

The Principal Design Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the design and optimization of upgrades to critical physical plant systems (HVAC, lighting, BMSetc.) across a hospital portfolio. Also create a thorough documentation of the present state of assets and through their upgrades system-wide. This position will help define the scope of upgrades to be undertaken, lead the design review of proposed projects and provide technical guidance for the implementation. The role will involve collaborating with the clients to deliver cost-effective and sustainable critical infrastructure designs for acute care healthcare facilities while still meeting the stringent requirements of those environments. The Principal Design Engineer will also assist in the oversight of, and provide ongoing input to, the vendors selected to do the ultimate upgrade implementation, serving as an owner's engineer.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Lead and oversee the design and optimization of upgrades to critical infrastructure - such as central plant - for acute-care hospitals, including systems to be upgraded, cost, payback, and rough timelines.

- Act as an owner's representative optimizing designs to maximize energy efficiency and minimizing costs.

- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements - Create a system wide physical plant inventory, including equipment specifications and condition, through an onsite data collection and aggregation of pre-existing equipment inventories.

- Assist in contractor/vendor selection.

- Conduct detailed analysis and prepare calculations to ensure upgraded system performance meets client requirements.

-Provide RFP/RFI assistance and response review, including oversight on contract/vendor supplied schedules, budgets, and resources.

- Review design plans, specifications, submittals, and shop drawings.

- Conduct site visits and inspections as needed.

- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.

- Such other duties and responsibilities as may be reasonably requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Mechanical Engineering degree.

- Minimum of 10 year's experience in HVAC design and engineering.

- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

- Strong knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS)

- Healthcare industry experience strongly preferred.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Strong project management and leadership abilities.

- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

- Dedication to continuous learning and professional development.
