Welding Fabricator (2ND SHIFT ONLY)
Job Summary:
A Welding Fabricator is responsible for performing various welding tasks to fabricate and assemble metal structures, components, or equipment in accordance with specifications, blueprints, and safety standards. This role involves using different welding techniques and tools to cut, join, or repair metal parts, ensuring that all work is completed with high-quality standards and meets company requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine welding requirements and material types.
Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment such as MIG, TIG, Stick welders, and plasma cutters.
Measure, cut, and fabricate metal parts to precise dimensions.
Perform welding procedures to join, surface, or repair metal components, using welding techniques like MIG, TIG, Stick, and oxy-acetylene.
Inspect welds for quality, appearance, and strength, ensuring compliance with industry standards and specifications.
Ensure proper safety procedures and practices are followed at all times, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe operation of tools and equipment.
Prepare and clean metal surfaces to ensure a strong bond during welding.
Operate power tools (cutting, grinding, and polishing tools) to prepare and finish metal pieces.
Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience as a welding fabricator.
Strong knowledge of welding techniques and metal fabrication methods.
Familiarity with blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
Ability to operate and maintain welding equipment safely and effectively.
Proficiency in welding processes such as MIG, TIG, Stick, and others.
Ability to measure and cut materials accurately.
Attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Physical strength and stamina to handle heavy materials and work in various positions.
Welding certification (e.g., AWS, CWB) preferred
Work Environment:
Works in a shop setting.
Exposure to high temperatures, fumes, and noise.
Requires use of personal protective equipment, such as gloves, helmets, goggles, and respirators.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Welding or fabrication training through technical schools, apprenticeships, or on-the-job experience.
Certification in welding processes is an advantage.
