What Youll Do

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented individual to serve as a Basic Business License (BBL) Processor on behalf of a property owner in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in residential construction, home maintenance, or property development, and be capable of managing the licensing process from initial application through final inspection approval. This role requires coordination with city agencies, contractors, and inspectors to ensure compliance with all DC Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection (DLCP) requirements.

Manage Full Licensing Process:

• Prepare and submit all documentation required for obtaining a DC Basic Business License (BBL) for rental or business properties.
• Track the status of applications and follow up with DC agencies as needed.

Property Evaluation and Compliance:

• Conduct preliminary property inspections or assessments to ensure the property meets BBL requirements.
• Obtain/Provide quotes for correction work to be approved by the Owner.
• Coordinate any repairs or upgrades needed to pass housing code inspections based on Owner approval.

Inspection Coordination:

• Schedule and oversee housing or building inspections with the appropriate DC authorities.
• Address inspection findings and ensure all corrections are completed in a timely manner.

Owner Communication and Representation:

• Act as the liaison between the property owner and DLCP, inspectors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Provide regular updates to the owner on application status, inspection results, and progress toward final approval.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of all communications, forms, payments, and approvals.
• Ensure timely renewal and ongoing compliance for the propertys BBL.

What You Bring

• Proven experience in residential construction, home maintenance, or property management.
• Strong understanding of DLCP regulations and BBL requirements. Willing to train ideal candidate.
• Prior experience managing permit or licensing processes in Washington, DC is preferred but not required.
• Ability to interpret building codes and inspection standards.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Proficient with online application portals and tracking systems used by DLCP.
• Reliable transportation and ability to be on-site for inspections or contractor visits as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of DC housing codes, rental registration, and short-term rental regulations.
• Experience with other licensing (e.g., Certificate of Occupancy, Rent Control Registration).
