Position Overview:
Our Utility Structures division is looking for Laborers to support our business. Laborers work to inspect, maintain and repair a variety of electric utility structures, such as transmission towers. Tasks include clearing vegetation, conducting small repairs and some preventative maintenance, such as painting. Laborers also work to maintain company equipment in working order.

Laborers report to our headquarters each Monday morning and are then assigned to a job location for the week. Laborers then use company vehicles to travel to various job sites across New York State, returning to the shop on Friday afternoons.

Requirements:
  • Weekly travel (Monday through Friday, some weekends) across New York State.
  • Extensive physical labor required, including digging with a hand shovel or bar, heavy lifting, handling forms, placing concrete, and assisting welders in fabrication.
  • Demonstrates safe and proper use and maintenance of all company tools and equipment.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with the public and clients.
  • Must have a valid NYS Drivers License in good standing.
  • Positive attitude, record of reliability, and a desire to be trained in the safe performance of the work.
  • OSHA 10 a plus.
  • Experience towing a trailer behind a pickup is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and move heavy parts and equipment (up to 50 pounds or more).
  • Stamina to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precise tasks.
  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Good vision, including close-up and peripheral vision, for detailed inspections.
  • Hearing ability to diagnose engine and equipment noises.

Compensation:
  • $20-$22 per hour. Employees receive a generous per diem to cover hotels and food, in addition to their hourly wage. Considerable overtime is also available.

Additional Requirements:
Any offer of employment is contingent upon passing a DOT Physical, drug screen, and driver's license check. Candidates must maintain passing results throughout the term of employment with P&CG.
