Painter/Prepper

Prepares the vehicles for painting and paints the vehicles in a manner that the paint will last for the life of the vehicle and a layperson will not be able to tell that it has been painted.

Essential Duties:

  • Follow I-CAR and paint manufactures procedures for preparing a vehicle for painting.
  • Take the necessary steps to ensure color match.
  • Always take into account the cost of the product that is being used.
  • Produce an Invisible repair.
  • Demonstrates creative ability to resolve difficult painting situations and application imperfections.
  • Keeps paint shop clean at all times.
  • Operates the distiller to optimize reproduction of thinner.
  • Makes sure that all OSHA requirements are being followed.

Requirements

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variable in standardized situations

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Manufacturers training certificate.
  • Valid Drivers License.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
