Primary Purpose:
Under general supervision, maintain, repair, and install heating and air conditioning systems and equipment throughout the district. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all HVAC systems in district facilities.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma, equivalency, preferred
Valid Texas Driver’s License
Texas air conditioning and refrigeration contractor license or technician certification, preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of HVAC repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques
Knowledge of local, state, and national codes
Ability to follow oral and written directions
Ability to use power and hand tools
Ability to attend technical training as needed
5 years experience in HVAC field, preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Diagnose and repair malfunctions in various types of heating and air conditioning systems, including rooftop equipment.
- Install new heating and air conditioning systems and components.
- Relocate and expand existing HVAC systems as needed.
- Repair, replace, or calibrate controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring.
- Fabricate, assemble and install ductwork and piping according to specifications and code.
- Wire and connect motors, compressor, temperature controls, and humidity controls according to wiring schematics.
- Maintain preventative maintenance schedules and procedures for all HVAC equipment including changing filters and cleaning condensers and coils.
- Perform duct cleaning and air quality testing as needed.
- Receive and complete work orders in a timely, efficient manner.
- Repair CISD vent hoods, labs, freezers, walk-in coolers, washing machines, and dryers as needed.
- Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials.
- Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects.
- Respond to emergency calls as needed.
- Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
- Assists other technicians within the maintenance department as needed or directed.
- Maintains confidentiality of information.
- Attends all required district and department meetings and trainings.
- Exemplifies high standards of ethical conduct according to District Policy.
- Displays tolerance necessary for accepting supervision for criticism of duty performance.
- Works in harmony with supervisory and peer personnel.
- Is task-focused and does not socialize excessively.
- Supports administrative policy.
- Is prompt at arriving at workstation at the beginning of each working day.
- Represents the school system to the community in a positive professional way.
- Maintains a sincere, friendly attitude toward visitors and patrons to insure communication.
