Machine Operator Job Description Join our dynamic team in the aerospace industry, where we manufacture high-quality structural parts for leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the large business and regional jet markets. Our expertise covers various segments of an aircraft, including engine pylons, struts, wing boxes, wings, wheel wells, and interiors. Responsibilities Operate numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate aerospace parts according to engineering specifications. Start and observe machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and inform the lead person of discrepancies. Perform work instructions, excluding setup procedures. Thoroughly inspect the first part run. Meet job standard times with minimal supervision. Recognize production problems and inform the supervisor. Increase understanding of basic machine language, including M-codes and G-codes. Verify conformance of finished work pieces to specifications using standard measuring tools. Read and interpret manufacturing drawings. Perform miscellaneous duties in the machine shop as directed when the supervisor is unavailable for training. Follow all safety guidelines established by the company, including the proper use of safety equipment and relevant safety procedures. Other duties as assigned. Essential Skills Demonstrate a good attitude toward work and arrive on time for the start of the shift. Properly use basic measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and indicators. Follow instructions and demonstrate strong attention to detail. Communicate well verbally and in writing. Possess mechanical inclination and good manual dexterity. Additional Skills & Qualifications Machine operation, machining experience, or vocational training in a machine shop. Basic computer skills, including opening and closing files using Windows. Strong skills and aptitude in math. Ability to perform basic functions with MS Windows-based computer operating systems. One-year on-the-job experience. Completion of an aptitude test during the interview process. Preferred completion of vocational or college training in machine shop (Certificate of Completion of basic machining course). Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
