Job Description

Carpenter - Engineering Department

As a Carpenter at Fairmont Chicago, Millennium Park, you will be responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining the hotel's interior and exterior woodwork and fixtures. Your craftsmanship and dedication will help uphold the high standards of our property and provide a safe and visually refined environment for our guests and colleagues.

What you will be doing:

• Construct, repair, and install wood fixtures, furniture, doors, frames, moldings, and cabinetry throughout the hotel
• Perform routine maintenance and touch-ups on woodwork, casework, and millwork in guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas
• Conduct framing, drywall installation and repair, and finish carpentry as needed
• Respond to maintenance work orders and perform inspections of wooden structures
• Collaborate with other trades (painters, engineers, electricians) during renovation or repair projects
• Maintain clean and organized workspaces and shop areas, including inventory and tools
• Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively
• Ensure all work complies with building codes and hotel safety standards
• Assist the Engineering department with general maintenance tasks when required

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

• Proven experience as a carpenter in a commercial or hospitality setting preferred
• Strong knowledge of wood construction, joinery, and repair techniques
• Skilled in the use of hand and power tools, saws, drills, and measurement equipment
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders
• Detail-oriented with a high standard of workmanship and finish
• Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs., working at heights, and navigating confined spaces
• Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Highly responsible, dependable, and safety-conscious

Additional Information

Compensation: $51.44 per Hour

Visa Requirements: Successful candidates must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
