Under the direction of a Project Manager, this professional will play a key role in supporting and leading various traffic and highway engineering projects. From urban roadway design to signal systems and traffic analysis, this role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of impactful projects that improve community mobility and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design efforts for traffic and highway projects, particularly in urban or space-constrained environments
- Conduct field investigations and data collection to support project development
- Prepare construction plans, design reports, and permitting documentation
- Assist in traffic analysis, signal design, and roadway alignment studies
- Mentor and guide junior staff in developing technical skills and design capabilities
- Ensure work is completed on time and within established budgets
- Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure project success
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering
- Typically requires at least 5 years of experience in highway and roadway design
- Experience working with state or local Departments of Transportation (DOTs)
- EIT or PE certification preferred
- Intermediate skills in AutoCAD, Civil3D, Synchro, Vissim and/or Microstation
- Excellent oral and written communications skills including the ability to present technical content to non-technical audiences
