Land Surveyor 9-P11 - Bureau of Development

This position works under the direction of a Professional Surveyor and is responsible for performing a variety of survey support assignments which include, but are not limited to, reviewing digital design data for constructability, reviewing the electronic survey methods and procedures applicable to perform and review surveys, reviewing Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) Survey Standards, reviewing Construction Specifications, reviewing survey deliverables, providing support to MDOT Survey and Construction Staff and uses modern survey technology like Automated Machine Grading (AMG) and other survey equipment necessary for construction support from design to field.

This position requires possession of a valid drivers license to perform survey assignments.

The "Salary" listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate at the entry (9) level through the maximum rate at the experienced (P11) level. Based on education and experience, candidates will be reviewed to determine what level they are qualified for.

Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree with a major in surveying.

Experience

Land Surveyor 9
No specific type or amount is required.

Land Surveyor 10
One year of professional experience conducting land surveys equivalent to a Land Surveyor 9.

Land Surveyor P11
Two years of professional experience conducting land surveys equivalent to a Land Surveyor, including one year equivalent to a Land Surveyor 10.

  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Possess a Part 107 drone pilot license or possession within 12 months of the date of hire into the position and must maintain throughout employment in the position.
