Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Novelis Guthrie, KY team is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join Novelis for our recently announced expansion/greenfield start-up Recycle Center. The Electrical Engineer is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and support in designing and maintaining Electrical and Automation systems and controls. In addition, the incumbent guides and directs the activities of others engaged in electrical engineering, reliability/maintenance, automation, and controls to achieve overall plant goals relating to quality, throughput, and efficiency.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for selection/review of electrical equipment and overseeing the completion of electrical layout drawings, cable sizing, routing, and schedule drawings
  • Responsible for instrument and control device selection, sizing, and specifications
  • Complete/review the equipment location plans, cable tray layout, and loading
  • Complete instrument location plans, building and shelter instrument layouts, instrument installation details, and related drawings
  • Responsible for specifications of process controls systems and detailed hardware required for the plant control systems, including panel layout and design
  • Provide 24/7 support and assistance to maintain plant operations
  • Act as a technical resource to coach/train maintenance personnel
  • Maintain automation Ethernet network
  • Track and analyze energy consumption and support improvement efforts
  • Work with contractors on project specifications, control plans, system testing, and commissioning
  • Responsible for the integration and maintenance of PLC hardware system, remote I/O system, industrial control networks, industrial sensors, instrumentation, motors, and VFDs
  • Responsible for solving automation control problems and improving system performance in a manufacturing environment
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum two years of experience as Electrical Engineer or Control/Systems Engineer
  • Self driven and proactive approach to work
  • Willing to contribute to and support a collaborative environment
  • Experience must include developing a scope of work using single line diagrams, P&ID's, equipment specifications, and project requirements to specify and complete electrical, instrument, and control systems
  • Experience with PLC programming, preferably Allen Bradley systems (Studio 5000)
  • Experience with HMI programming preferably Allen Bradley Factory Talk View.
  • Experience with AC/DC variable frequency drives; Preferred experience with Allen Bradley Powerflex
  • Experience using electrical AUTOCAD
  • Experience with electrical and control system commissioning and maintenance in the metal industry

Location Profile

Novelis Guthrie facility is located in Guthrie Kentucky approximately 30 minutes from the Tennessee state line near Clarksville Tennessee and Hopkinsville Kentucky. As Novelis newest facility Guthrie will house a heat treatment and pretreatment line that will serve the North American automotive market and employ 125 residents. In addition to hunting fishing and hiking residents enjoy the Guthrie Transportation Museum which is the hub of the citys renewal efforts. The Guthrie team enjoys partnerships with Hopkinsville Community College Todd County High School Guthrie Fire Department and several local Rotary Clubs.
