Traffic Engineer
In the transportation/traffic field, MSG is on the leading edge of autonomous vehicles/smart roads, smart streets downtown transportation, transportation demand management, modern interchange/intersection designs, multi-modal systems, corridor management, and complete streets. Our traffic and planning team serves a wide variety of public and private sector clients and works collaboratively across business lines, including transportation, municipal, development, and others.
MSG is seeking a full-time Traffic Engineer to support transportation/traffic planning and design projects. These include work for both public and private sector clients related to multi-modal transportation planning, transit planning, traffic macro- and micro-simulation, parking, site planning & development, complete streets, pedestrian & bicycle facilities, traffic impact and feasibility studies, MOT design and transportation management plans, signal- and lane-warrant studies and analysis, crash analysis and safety studies, and integrated land use/transportation planning.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and/or supervise technical staff in traffic data collection using Video and Radar (e.g., MioVision and StreetLogic) traffic count equipment
- Perform analyses using a variety of traffic modeling software including Synchro, SIDRA, RODEL, VISSIM, HCS, and TransModeler
- Perform traffic and transportation studies as part of roadway design, master plan developments, and land development projects
- Prepare conceptual street/intersection designs
- Prepare traffic signal designs throughout Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana
- Prepare safety studies
- Write technical and non-technical reports for internal and external purposes
- Present technical material in creative and innovative ways for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Understand and stay current with trends and best practices in transportation and urban planning
- Use technical skills and a creative approach to problem-solving
- Attend client meetings
- Participate in local professional associations
- Work collaboratively as part of MSGs traffic and planning team
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Bachelors degree (or greater) in Civil Engineering or a related field
- 37 years of related experience
- Experience with traffic modeling and simulation software
- Experience with roadway and traffic engineering design using AutoCAD Civil3D and Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD)
- Experience working on projects in the state of Michigan
