REQUIREMENTS: Must have high school diploma or equivalent; possess or be able to obtain an Oregon Driver License; adhere to the federal requirements of a drug-free workplace; pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal history background check.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 2 years lead custodial or building engineer experience in a school or commercial cleaning environment; proven mechanical and/or electrical experience; supervisory skills; ability to multi-task; interact well with students, staff and community members.

JOB SUMMARY
The Building Engineer II directs the custodial staff of a middle school in providing a clean and safe environment for the school's students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.Fills a position designated for Building Engineer II.Performs all general cleaning duties of the School Custodian classification, including emergency cleanup as required.Opens the building each school day. Sees that all systems are up and running.Performs routine and emergency maintenance and repair as required.Monitors heating, cooling and ventilation systems and performs routine adjustments to building systems.Inspects for safety, sanitary and fire hazards on school property.Sets up and cleans up cafeteria as required.Mows, weeds, and sprays weeds around buildings/curbs.Is the custodial representative on the building safety committee, member of the building disaster preparedness team and holds a current first aid card.Coordinates the setting up, oversight and taking down of evening activities in the school buildings.Fulfill other duties as assigned.Fulfill performance standards identified in the evaluation process as required by the position.Fulfill working conditions and physical effort listed below.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or the equivalent.Able to relate well to students, staff and public.Read, understand and carry out oral and/or written instructions.Basic computer skills required to send/retrieve e-mails, work orders, etc.Adhere to the federal requirements of a drug-free work place.Accurately transfer, record and convey information, materials and money, as required by the position.Able to perform the duties of School Custodian.Possess or be able to obtain an Oregon Driver's License.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESProvides direct supervision for custodial staff.Establish work routines, provide adequate instruction, supervise and evaluate the performance of the assigned custodial staff.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The employee must possess the physical ability to regularly attend work and fulfill the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. The employee must be able to travel within district and to Crook County Landfill, even during times of inclement weather; lift, move, or be able to carry objects weighing 60 pounds regularly, 100 pounds occasionally; responsibilities may require the employee to stoop, crawl, stand and/or walk for long periods of time; able to work from scaffolding and ladders. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate, but occasionally high. The employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The employee is regularly exposed to a variety of cleaning agents and some hazardous chemicals.
