This Mobile Equipment Operator position operates a variety of heavy equipment for the purposes of road/bridge construction and maintenance primarily for Calcasieu Parish in District 07, Unit 510 of the DOTD and reports directly to Highway Foreman 1.

As Mobile Equipment Operator, you'll help create a positive first impression for every person who walks through our doors or see on the roadways. In this role, you will operate the following heavy equipment, as needed:

  • Asphalt Distributor (truck mounted)
  • Backhoes
  • Front end loaders
  • Bucket/ladder trucks
  • Cranes/draglines (lifting capacity >20,000 lbs but <40,000 lbs
  • Dozers (<140 HP)
  • Dump truck (tandem axle or trailer dump)
  • Gradalls
  • Hot mix pavers (<40 HP)
  • Motor Grader
  • Lowboys
  • Milling machines (<90 HP)
  • Road planer
  • Road widener (<90 HP)
  • Sewer Cleaners (truck mounted)
  • Striping machines
  • Sweepers
  • Track hoes (excavators)
  • Under bridge inspection units (trailer mounted

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional

Work Schedule: Work hours are 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Thursday

Compensation:
MOBILE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR 1 -- Class D, Chauffeurs License will be required upon appointment. Starting salary for MEO-1 is $16.06/hourly; this job title receives Premium Pay in the amount of $1.00/hour for all hours worked. Additionally, a 10% base pay increase will be granted upon attainment of permanent status. MOBILE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR 2 -- Class A, Commercial Drivers License (CDL) will be required upon appointment. Starting salary for MEO-2 is $17.18/hourly; this job title receives Premium Pay in the amount of $1.00/hour for all hours worked. Additionally, a 10% base pay increase will be granted upon attainment of permanent status. MOBILE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR 1/HEAVY -- Class A, Commercial Drivers License (CDL) will be required upon appointment. Starting salary for MEO-1/HEAVY is $21.05/hourly.
