This is a skilled, full-time exempt position operating under the direct supervision of the Facilities Superintendent. The incumbent is responsible for assisting in the management, maintenance, and repair of municipal buildings, facilities, and grounds. Responsibilities include supporting the oversight of daily operations, supervising personnel, coordinating the work of contractors, managing work order systems, ensuring compliance with applicable safety regulations, and assisting with the planning and execution of facility maintenance and improvement projects. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Assist in planning, organizing, and supervising the maintenance, repair, and operations of municipal buildings, facilities, and grounds.
- Oversee and prioritize daily work assignments for maintenance staff and custodians.
- Inspect facilities to ensure proper maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
- Assist with scheduling and supervising contractors for specialized services such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, roofing, and pest control.
- Respond to maintenance emergencies and coordinate appropriate responses.
- Manage work order systems; track requests, schedule tasks, and ensure timely completion.
- Support budget preparation by providing input on labor, materials, and equipment needs.
- Assist in procurement of supplies, equipment, and service contracts according to municipal purchasing policies.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and inventory.
- Responds to customer problems or issues and facility repair.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards, OSHA regulations, and municipal policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in building maintenance, facility operations, construction, or related fields, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Experience in managing contractors, overseeing building systems such as HVAC, electrical, and plumbing, and administering work order systems is highly desirable.
- Possession of or ability to obtain relevant certifications such as OSHA 10/30, Certified Facilities Manager (CFM), Facilities Management Professional (FMP), or equivalent is desirable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Walking on uneven surfaces, bending, kneeling, squatting, twisting.
- Exposure to airborne dust and loud noises.
- Driving and working on slippery surfaces.
- Working with toxic substances.
- Occasional lifting of items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in confined and cramped spaces.
- Ability to use repetitive hand motion, lift above shoulders climb in and out of ditches, turn valves, lift and carry pipes and dig ditches.
- Continuous standing, frequent walking, bending and stooping, reaching, pushing and pulling, and twisting of wrist in use of tools.
- Occasional sitting, squatting, crawling, climbing and balancing.
