JOB REQUIREMENTS: The City of Fond du Lac is accepting applications for
the position of Engineering Technician II within the Department of
Public Works Engineering Division. This full-time position reports to
the City Engineer. The applicant is under limited supervision to perform
skilled and advanced technical work in the field and the office in
conjunction with various municipal (civil) engineering projects. Other
areas of involvement include mapping and design in AutoCAD, Civil 3D,
and GIS software; research and design of projects; and maintenance of
records, plans, and data. The person is responsible for identifying and
performing engineering technical duties which follow prescribed methods
and procedures, but which involve the application of previously learned
engineering, surveying, and heavy construction methods. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES Reviews and approves Residential Drainage Plans for
new homes working closely with Architects, Land Surveyors, Professional
Engineers, and contractors. Performs field inspections and directs
revisions as needed. Provides general assistance to property owners who
are experiencing drainage problems, flooded basements and yards. Manages
the 50/50 drainage program to provide design and financial assistance to
qualified property owners. Manages Right-of-way Excavation Permits.
Coordinates with contractor for Digger\'s Hotline Locates. Performs
field inspections to ensure that projects are completed according to
specifications; maintains construction records as required. Provides
general and technical information and assistance to the general public
and private contractors. Assists Engineers to enforce City Ordinances
regarding erosion control and storm water, sanitary sewer, drainage
plans, and other Engineering related codes. Manages the address system
for the City, assigning new addresses and resolving conflicts with
existing addresses. Draws and maintains portions of the GIS mapping,
including parcels/property owners, storm sewer, CSMs, annexations, etc.
Coordinates with Community Development, County Land Information, and the
Assessor\'s Office on parcel mapping. Trains, supervises and directs the
activities of Engineering Tech I, Aides and seasonal employees.
\*\*\*\*\* OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Qualifications, Required
Training and Experience include: High school graduate with technical
training in civil engineering and surveying and four to six years
engineering or construction experience, or any combination of education
and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities
sufficient to conform to the list of qualifications. Experience in
AutoCAD, especially in Civil 3D design, is preferred. \*\*\*\*\*
