Brown and Caldwell (BC), a leading, employee-owned environmental engineering firm, is currently seeking a Senior Process Mechanical Engineer to join our Design Services, National Mechanical Discipline team. The ideal candidate will have proven strength in process mechanical engineering design of water and wastewater treatment processes, process piping systems, aeration, pumping, and pipe supports as it pertains to industrial plant design of equipment, piping and controls for industrial water treatment applications (e.g., wastewater, reclaimed, potable water, groundwater, zero liquid discharge and surface water) for a variety of industries including: energy/chemicals/power, food/pharmaceutical, manufacturing, mining/solids waste and technology.
This position is located in Houston, TX office; minimum of 50% office time is required.
Detailed Description:
In this role you will utilize your technical expertise to manage and execute work on projects and to help ensure successful client project delivery. In addition, it is anticipated that you will also participate in the mentoring and career development of our junior engineering staff within the mechanical discipline with a specific focus on pumps, pipe, and support design. You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with highly experienced technical experts and other leaders from the BC team.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Manage and execute work for wastewater and water utilities and industrial facilities, including treatment plants, and pumping stations.
- Perform technical research as it applies to our industry and be able to communicate and apply this knowledge on future projects.
- Support project teams in planning and/or designing major and complex pumping and piping systems within our project delivery framework.
- Provide consultation in specialized areas. Make decisions and solve problems.
- Participate in improving company resources and tools to improve design production and efficiency.
- Prepare and make presentations to clients for project technical meetings
- Preparation of P&ID and Mechanical layouts, technical memoranda, reports, and electronic deliverables.
- Check performance or conformity with plans and specifications through field inspections as part of engineering services during construction.
- Conduct field work, such as site investigations, as necessary for various projects.
- Communicate effectively and coordinate with project teams including other disciplines (Engineers, Designers).
- Direct the work of drafters and designers, coordinate with other disciplines; use of Bluebeam to create drawings markups
- Supervise, delegate and oversee the work of technical staff and engineers
- Assist with and support construction related office engineering activities
- Coach and mentor junior engineers and designers.
Minimum Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in mechanical, chemical or civil/environmental engineering.
- 7 years of experience in complex process mechanical design projects.
- Design experience should include: pumping, water and wastewater treatment equipment, aeration and plant air compressor/blowers, piping system design, pressure control/relief, and development of technical specifications.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, civil, mechanical, or chemical or the ability to be licensed within six months.
- Strong project or task management skills.
- Successful technical writing skills.
- Knowledgeable AFT Fathom and Visual Hydraulics software applications and use.
- Experience working in BIM collaboration tools (BIM 360 and Navisworks).
- Position is located in Houston, TX office; minimum of 50% office time is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- M.S. degree in mechanical, chemical or civil/environmental engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in complex process mechanical design projects.
Salary Range: Theanticipatedstarting payrange for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and maybemore or lessdependingupon skills, experience,and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Location B: $117,000 - $160,000
