Executive Bridge Superintendent

An Executive Bridge Superintendent is responsible for managing multiple civil bridge projects within an allotted budget. The position will be responsible for scheduling project activities and directly supervising various Job superintendents constructing bridges.

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the construction and repair of bridges, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to safety and quality standards.
  • Managing multiple construction sites and coordinating with various stakeholders, including owners, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Developing and implementing project plans, schedules, and budgets, including coordinating equipment, materials, and staffing needs.
  • Work with the Estimating team for determining new jobs to bid and guide the estimating team on project estimates.
  • Leading, managing, and supervising crews, Superintendents, foremen, and other workers involved in bridge construction.
  • Fostering a positive work environment, developing team members, and resolving conflicts.
  • Maintaining clear and consistent communication with stakeholders, including owners, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Preparing and submitting project reports, budgets, schedules, and other required documentation.
  • Resolving disputes and managing stakeholder expectations effectively.
  • Work harmoniously, cooperatively, and courteously with others at all times.
  • Follow directions and instructions from the President and Owners.
  • Perform various tasks and duties that may often change as the work conditions require.
  • Work within defined standards of accuracy.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Skills or Abilities:

  • Valid Driver's License and clean MVR.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Superintendent in heavy civil construction, specializing in bridge projects.
  • Proven track record of success in managing complex bridge construction projects.
  • Field leadership experience on projects involving bridges, elevated structures, and complex site work.
  • Proficiency in civil construction processes and a comprehensive understanding of various bridge structures and forming systems.
  • Strong knowledge of construction industry practices, processes, and standards, including quality control, cost control, and job site safety.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations for construction.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, time management, and organizational abilities.
  • Keen attention to detail for quality assurance and compliance checks.

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is preferred, but extensive related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) In-depth
  • Viewpoint and HCSS (HeavyJob) software skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects.
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for long periods.
  • Ability to perform frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be able to see and hear well (naturally or with correction)
