SUPERVISION

General supervision is provided by a Street Supervisor. Responsible for supervision of Equipment Operators, Concrete Finishers and Maintenance Workers.

  • All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct & Rules of Behavior outlined in chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of heavy, complex equipment including graders, trucks, rollers, scrapers, loaders, excavators, concrete saws, backhoes, jackhammers, grinders, concrete mixers, compactors and other similar equipment and machinery in excavating, covering, filling, compacting and moving concrete, asphalt and other materials.
  • Inspect and restore equipment fluid levels including oil, fuel, water and transmission fluid; verify operational gauges and tires; lubricate equipment as needed; service and adjust as necessary.
  • Assist with preparing grades and elevations for project construction; participate in the placement and finishing of concrete.
  • Collect and complete daily schedules; report all daily work to appropriate supervisor. May assist in the timely, accurate and thorough Performance Reviews for supervised employees.
  • Clean assigned equipment and related parts.
  • Assist with identifying equipment needs for each assigned site; ensure proper materials and tools are available to the workers when needed.
  • Participate in a variety of activities involving travel between various City facilities and to other related external business and government agencies that may include site repair, cleaning, construction and hauling materials.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide support to assist other staff in the completion of their duties and responsibilities; provide training and direction as needed.
  • May inspect and restore equipment fluid levels including oil, fuel, water and transmission fluid; service and adjust equipment as necessary including changing tires.
  • Distribute sanding materials on roads under freezing and snowy conditions.
  • Fill in for Crew Chief and or Supervise maintenance crews as needed.
  • Maintain and repair a variety of concrete and asphalt streets, alleys, and utility piping as assigned, to include physical labor as required.
  • Utilize a variety of hand tools to complete work projects.
  • Prepare and assemble fences, concrete forms and barricades as assigned.
  • Clean and prepare site location for construction; remove waste materials as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.

EXPERIENCE

  • Two years experience operating graders, rollers, scrapers, loaders, grade-alls and related equipment used in excavating, covering, and moving concrete, asphalt and other materials.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

  • Must possess a valid Driver's License

  • Possession of a valid Class A Texas driver's license or obtain a Class A commercial driver's license within 90 days of employment as a condition of continued employment. Failure to obtain a Class A driver's license within 90 days of employment will result in non-disciplinary termination.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Monday-Friday from 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
  • Overtime as needed.
