The Service Associate/Building Manager is a full-time position, responsible to support the overall cleanliness and upkeep of campus buildings, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position is responsible to supervise and coordinate student custodial staff, manage routine building assessments, and assist with maintenance projects and event setups to maintain high facility standards.

The schedule for this full-time position is Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM.

What will I do in this position?

Essential job responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the daily cleaning and general maintenance of assigned campus buildings, assessing conditions and submitting work orders as needed.
  • Supervise, train, and direct student employees to ensure safe and effective custodial work practices, including the proper use of equipment and chemicals; approve student employee timesheets.
  • Participate in planning, executing, and reporting on building maintenance projects, including performing hands-on project work when necessary.
  • Assist with special event setups and meeting room arrangements to support campus activities.
  • Transport small equipment, tools, furniture, and other items between departments and buildings as required.
  • Perform routine custodial tasks, such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, trash removal, light bulb replacement, and equipment maintenance.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience: None required; prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Skills: Ability to work effectively in a team, maintain a positive attitude, and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Certifications/Licenses: Valid driver's license required.
  • Maintain a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, reflect His character in all interactions, and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern's mission, Doctrinal Statement, and Declaration of Christian Community.

Nice To Have

  • Experience: Previous custodial or facilities management experience.
  • Skills: Familiarity with safe lifting techniques and custodial safety procedures.

  • Driver's License: Valid driver's license and ability to operate vehicles for transporting equipment.
  • Background Check: Must pass initial and ongoing background checks as a condition of employment.
