Plan, organize and manage the comprehensive purchasing functions for the PGA of America in an inclusive manner that complies with company policies; overseeing daily activities in purchasing; responding to a range of inquiries regarding processes or bid status; negotiating terms and conditions with vendors and service providers; and achieving department objectives and goals within budget.
RESPONSIBILITIES (Specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):
Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies, implementing policies and procedures for the department. Manage the procurement life cycle.
Source and collaboratively select vendors, based on PGA of America procurement qualifications relative to quality, pricing, service standards, inclusion, compliance, sustainability and environmental practices, technology and innovation, risk management, reputation and references, and financial stability.
Negotiate and close deals with optimal terms. Identify opportunities to optimize costs, improve quality and extend payment terms.
Review and evaluate existing contracts to identify opportunities for improvement.
Develop internal client relationships and identify new business opportunities.
Facilitate communication between client business units, internal stakeholders and suppliers. Collaborate with key persons to ensure the clarity of the specifications and expectations of the company. Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation.
Work cross-functionally with business partners to provide superior service and gain economies of scale where possible.
Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness. Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking.
Mentor, supervise, train and develop procurement processing staff. Act as an advisor to colleagues and subordinates to resolve supply chain, production, and technical problems.
Assess, manage and mitigate risks regarding supply contracts and agreements.
Build a culture of innovation to drive cost optimization and long-term saving on procurement costs.
Control spending and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs.
Recommend and implement process improvements.

SUPERVISION:
This is a supervisory position responsible for the performance management and hiring of employees within the department.
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:
Assist in managing procurement department expenses to ensure adherence to company budgets and goals.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors degree (B.A.) in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Five years of experience in a medium to large corporate computerized purchasing environment. Strong Google Sheets skills. Workday experience preferred
Two years team management experience.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Must have knowledge of computerize purchasing. Knowledge of sound procurement practices. Skills in negotiations. Must have strong project management skills (including interpersonal, organizational and project planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities). Skills in sourcing and procurement techniques. Experience in developing a diverse supplier pool is highly desirable. Working knowledge of Gmail, Google Drive, Google Sheets, and Google Docs. Basic fluency in artificial intelligence (AI) tools and concepts. This includes using AI to enhance business operations and drive innovation, enabling us to better serve our Members and stakeholders. Skills in Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of Financial Software, preferably Workday and Hyperion Accounting software.
