Position Specific Description
The Engineering & Technical Services Department is seeking a Project Manager 1 to join their team in Jupiter to plan, manage, and execute siting, permitting, and development of electrical distribution/transmission substations and transmission lines across FPL's service territory in Florida.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage substation/transmission line site selection, acquisition, routing, and eminent domain processes
Coordinate with internal teams (Engineering, Planning, Operations, Real Estate, Legal) and external stakeholders (government, customers, vendors)
Drive project schedules to meet critical in-service dates and maintain siting tracker updates
Conduct due diligence for planning, zoning, permitting, environmental, and site feasibility assessments
Oversee procurement of surveys, environmental reports, geotechnical studies, and route planning
Secure local and state development permits, zoning approvals, and land use authorizations
Lead public outreach, community communication, and government relations (including public hearings)
Support contractor bidding, construction oversight, compliance monitoring, and project closeout
Champion safety practices and performance metrics
Travel within Florida as required
Desired Qualifications:
Planning/Urban Design Degree
Land Use Government Planning & Zoning Experience
Project Management Professional (PMP)

Job Duties & Responsibilities- Plans, coordinates and completes a large or several medium or small project(s) within budgetary and scheduling guidelines
- Develops detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports
- Secures required resources and uses formal processes and tools to manage resources, budgets, risks and changes
- Conducts project meetings and is responsible for project tracking and analysis
- Identifies issues and challenges, measures and validates results, and implements solutions
- Provides information to internal and external clients on moderate to complex issues
- Creates and communicates presentation materials for report out and updates with various levels of internal and external stakeholders
- Conducts external research and stays abreast of new developments or innovative advancements pertaining to the project
- Provides coaching, leadership and direction to project team
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
- High School Grad / GED
- Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
- Experience: 2+ years
- Master's Degree
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
